Seniors Retirees Work From Home…6 Ways To Be Successful!

Seniors retirees work from home….6 ways to be successful.

Seniors/retirees are finding new ways to supplement their income by working online at home. Whether they are working out of necessity or just to stay active, senior citizens are taking a try at running a home business.

But working at home isn’t a walk in the park. It takes commitment, discipline, and a go-getter attitude to run a successful at-home business. Let’s go over six fundamental practices that will help your business run efficiently and successfully.

It’s entirely possible to work from home for seniors/retirees with these practices in play.

In the following pages, I will be discussing 6 ways to be successful working from home seniors retirees.

I’m passionate about sharing this opportunity with my fellow seniors, because I plan to retire in 1 1/2 years or sooner.

I’m here to inspire and show seniors/retirees (and without discrimination) all ages that it is possible through content and the power of social media to work online, full time and completely independent.

6 Fundamental Practices To Be Successful!

1. Designate a space exclusive for working-

Having a space to work in will help you remain focused on your work. Tailor your “office” specifically for your business needs to maximize efficiency/productivity.

Make sure all of your supplies and tools are there to keep you free from distractions.

Let any other people in the home know that when you are in that room it means you are on the clock.

Having a home office can earn you some tax breaks as well.

2. Create a daily schedule-

Set up your schedule for your preferences; in other words, if you’re a morning person and would prefer to rise early, get your work done and then have the rest of your day for other pleasures, that’s your decision!

You’re the BOSS now!

DOESN’T THAT FEEL GOOD!!!!

Your schedule should work for you in a way that won’t lead to a burnout or lack of productivity. Don’t be afraid to try different schedules until you find the right one.

3. Set goals for each day-

No matter how big or small the goals are, accomplishing them will push your business to new levels. Write them down and check them off as you go. There’s no better form of motivation than progress!

Your goals should grow as you become more accustom to

whatever level of success you have reached.

Keep moving forward!

I have found using a calendar before bedtime to review the goals I set for the day, check them off, add the incomplete goals to your list of goals for the next day!

Planning your day the night before gives you a head start on the next day and mentally prepares you, so when you wake up the next morning you’re ready to go!

Don’t be too hard on yourself for incomplete goals, as you mature in this new role, you will learn the amount of time required for each task, you may be giving yourself too many tasks/goals for one day.

You will learn as you go and can adjust accordingly.

4. Take breaks throughout the day-

Get out of the office occasionally to regroup.

Taking a walk outside or going out for lunch could be just what you need to get out of a rut and get a new perspective.

Meeting up with a friend or just getting some sun can be the turning point in your day.

It’s a good idea to schedule your breaks and your lunch, this will help prevent you from wasting time.

5. Get help/be an extrovert-

Being shy will get you nowhere in the business world. Networking and putting yourself out there will open new doors for your business.

Find groups with similar interests online. Share what works and what doesn’t.

You just might find a new way to boost your business to a new level of success.

A great option is asking grandchildren for help, they are always

needing money and this can be an excellent way to teach them

responsibility and they can earn money at the same time. “Where

there’s a will, there’s a way.” An old saying of my Mom, God rest

her soul.

6. Never stop learning-

There are always new ways of communicating, networking, and operating business.

Sometimes the latest software or next generation device can make or break your business. When it comes to serving your

customer base, keeping up with the trends is essential.

Find courses and training online, check your libraries and other educational institutions for classes that will further your knowledge.

Personal Perspective

As I stated previously, I’m still working, but I’ve started my online

business in preparation for retirement. My husband and I plan to

retire, travel in our RV and see the country. As you know, traveling

can be expensive, so I chose a business without constraints. I can

work from anywhere as long as I have internet access, which in

this day in age, is almost ANYWHERE. I have found so much

enjoyment sharing, blogging, and informing others about this

wonderful opportunity, how seniors/retirees work from home and

supplement their income and teaching the 6 ways to be successful.

  1. Hey Cora,

There are lots of people who are retired and still want to keep busy. Ya… why not work from home? This is a great idea. These steps are definitely going to be helpful… I actually do have a lot of things I’m passionate about.

I want to keep my brain active and the best part is… I would be my own boss. I can work whenever I want if I have my own online business.

Thanks for all the great tips. I’ll be following you more.

    1. Monica,

I want to say I really appreciate your comments on my website. I agree, working from home is the best of both worlds, especially for seniors or retirees. I’ve enjoyed learning all the ins and outs of building an online business and every day I learn something new. It’s just so exciting. I can’t imagine being completely retired and not having any purpose to get up in the morning, I enjoy teaching others how to earn extra income online, whether you’re nearing retirement or just graduating from high school. The sky is the limit.

Thank you again for the following and your comments.

      Have a blessed day!

    2. Hey Monica! You know you absolutely right! They may have worked very hard all of their adult life and since they are retired and have spare time on their hands they realize they would like to get involved in something new and exciting. Learning something new keeps your mind young and gives you purpose. I was talking to my neighbor recently and she had retired but was going back to work in the same field she retired from, but she found her children were always needing a babysitter. She loved her grandchildren but didn’t want her life to be tied down by them.

Seniors have different reasons for working after retirement, but regardless, they get enjoyment from working and that’s a good thing.

      Thanks for the comments

  2. Hi Cora

Very valuable tips that you are giving here. Especially about planning one’s day the evening before and taking regular breaks!

The self-discipline to work from home is probably the biggest challenge and killer of dreams, don’t you think?

I will try to implement your suggestions more!

    1. Sharlee,

I still struggle with planning from time to time, but since I’ve been blogging (built my site through Wealthy Affiliate Courses-the past 6 months), I can say that I’ve consistently worked on my blog or training everyday without fail. I don’t know that I’ve ever been that consistent in my life. But I do know that you can’t build a great website without consistency.

      Thank you for stopping by!

      Have a great day!
